Billund announces in line with their philosophy

Since August 21st, Billund Airport in Danmark is a proud first user of the Vox-out-of-a-Box ^{by AviaVox} announcement system. The airport of Billund now announces in line with the philosophy of the airport (terminal): based on quality, transparency and (Danish) design. This project was realized in very little time, only 3 months were needed from order date to the actual implementation.

At the moment, the Danish language is still being developed and will be added to the current rich voice database later this year. The languages already in use at Billund Airport are: English, German, French, Dutch, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.

The airport handles around 2.3 mln passangers a year and is built on the Jutland peninsula, less then 1 km from the well known Lego Land.

At the time of the airport’s expansion, through the construction of a new passenger terminal, Billund Lufthavn changed its name to Billund Airport and introduced a new design. Billund Airport is a limited company and the shareholders are eight municipalities around the airport. Although the airport is publicly owned, it is run as a private enterprise responsible for operational and investments costs. The airport employs approx. 800 people. Together with all the employees of the companies represented at the airport, the total number adds up to 1800.

As the airport has become the centre for international passenger flights of west Denmark, it has acquired the same status concerning air cargo, fulfilling some of the goals of the airport to be second in Denmark being outnumbered only by Copenhagen airport as far as amount of traffic is concerned, but being number one in services provided to passengers, freight and airlines that use the airport.
